📢 Vittoria Technology’s happy to announce the launch of our project in Uganda, in partnership with FRES Uganda & AVSI Foundation and financed by EEP Africa.

Using Vittoria Technology’s Battery Bank Africa (BBA) “storage-as-a-service” platform, the project will focus on 3 dairy cooperatives in communities in Uganda. FRES will initially install solar PV & battery systems to bring clean, affordable energy to the dairy cooperatives, which will serve as anchor loads. They will thereafter build out the mini-grid infrastructure around the cooperatives to electrify the surrounding households and businesses. Alongside this phased and modular expansion AVSI will engage with the communities to build the awareness and skills to fully utilize the opportunities enabled by the electrification.

💡 The project uses a mini-grid model based on phased growth, using modular financing and technology, enabled by BBA, to provide reliable and affordable system growth alongside demand. This approach allows for smaller, more affordable initial systems that can be upgraded as demand grows, resulting in more sustainable business models for mini-grid operators and clean, affordable electricity for communities (For more info please read our recent article outlining the problem and our approach).

🙏 Many thanks to our team, partners & EEP Africa for helping us launch this project. Please reach out to us for more information on the project & BBA; follow us on LinkedIn; and visit the BBA site for the latest updates.
